About the Project

The team at Frequency wanted to develop a unique platform for audio advertisements that would give users a chance to broadcast their ads for any audio PlayStation. Using Frequency’s audio ecosystem, you can create powerful audio ads and boost your digital presence The team wanted to develop an automated ads processing system that would play the ad based on the defined targeted audience. Our task was to offer our development expertise to handle the complex infrastructure, programming of the app, and ongoing support for this audio service.

The Client

Frequency was founded in 2012 and was the only top company for audio and display ads management. Experienced with noteworthy customers like Spotify, the team frequency was enthusiastic about entering the digital ads industry and making a name for themselves with their exceptional services. Later on, Frequency focused its attention on audio ads, harvesting the ripe market of broadcasting and is currently working with the top broadcasting services for ads management in the USA, UK, and Australian regions. The distinct feature of Frequency is that it offers scalability, speed, and performance for all its customers.

The Challenge

Frequency was looking for a team of expert engineers to provide them with the technical mastery required to develop the project. They reached out to Mavric because of our stellar reputation of delivering excellent results in short deadlines. We were presented with numerous challenges in developing the infrastructure that could handle requests in milliseconds as well as in custom logic development. Our biggest challenge was to enable program and infrastructure that could work at a high efficiency while keeping the cost-controlled.

Technical Challenges

  • The project consisted of multiple challenges and complex problems, but our team fulfilled them successfully. They included:

  • Handling Ad requests: One of the biggest challenges was to develop an ad server that could handle multiple ad requests within milliseconds. The system had to handle 10k requests per minute and responses should be generated in seconds.

  • Development of architecture: Our target was to handle 10k requests per minute and responses should be served within 300 milliseconds. The infrastructure had to be designed keeping in mind the demands required from the ad server.

  • Custom logic development: To design the program for our custom response demand we had to implement custom logic that could return the request within milliseconds.

  • Geo-targeting and weather-targeting: The platform was equipped to play the relevant ads to the customers automatically. For this process, we had to implement geo-targeting so the ads would be based on the user’s location. The logic was also defined in a way that certain ads would play according to the weather keeping the signal strength in consideration.

  • Updating platform: The old existing system had to be updated to the latest frameworks. We were able to bring the system to JavaScript language successfully.

Objective

Frequency wanted to focus on audio ads that would target specific users based on geo-targeting. The Frequency platform was an automatic ad engine that would use custom logic and ad servers to play relevant ads to relevant audiences. The aim was to allow customers to reach their target audience by implementing an automated platform that could handle requests and implement ad strategies. Users had the flexibility to create captivating ads using the Frequency Platform. Our main focus was to develop a platform that could provide these functionalities while keeping the cost of development at the minimum and deliver the project within strict deadlines.

Scope

We had to work quickly and within short deadlines to deliver this project. During development, the client was aware of our progress and we efficiently executed the development phases. We were ready to provide the backend and API services required for the smooth functioning of the app

Peer Review

The testing began by checking the functionality of the features and ensuring that it works with multiple users. Bug fixes were recommended after a thorough analysis of the code by multiple engineers. Throughout the project execution, we offered various suggestions to the client one of which was to use emerging technologies. We successfully convinced the client to switch to JavaScript and the app now functions in React and Node.

Agile Development

At Mavric we ensure an agile approach to management to establish quick delivery of the project and to keep the client aware of the project’s progress. Implementing agile methodology gave us a significant boost in our development processes.

Web App

Frequency is a web app with Mavric as its development center. We are the technology service provider offering APIs and backend services for the app using Javascript. Currently, the app uses React and Node for the development. Our DevOps team helped us in creating the infrastructure required for the app to run smoothly in a very efficient timeframe.

Maintenance of the app

We are providing Frequency with full ongoing support of the app concerning the development of new features, testing for bugs ensuring a bug-free code, and implementing any changes if the project demands. We also monitor the app for smooth functioning and any urgent troubleshooting as there is 0% downtime and we respond immediately to client’s requests.

Core features of the app

  • The core features of the app include:

  • Ad Builder: The ad builder platform allows the user to edit and configure ads, mix multiple ads, and apply necessary modifications to the ad for effective results. The frequency team offers training to users regarding the use of Ad builder.

  • Chimera Metrics System: Once the ad is completed and played, a log system monitors the result of the event and keeps track of engagement and traction generated over the ads.

  • Ad Server: Special infrastructure with custom logic has been designed to handle the ad server requests and generate the response in milliseconds.

  • Podcast Creative Management: Another feature currently under development is the automation of podcast networks using better workflows for increased efficiency and scaling ad operations.

  • Admin Console: The admin console is designed for the addition of new customers to the Frequency Platform.
